Collective Study is published on the culmination of Enquiry #5, the fifth enquiry of Goldwin 0 in an ongoing series, led by OK-RM. This publication brings together an ecosystem of participants including Lila Matsumoto, Karl Nawrot and Nur Abbas to formalise new structures for how to work together. Within these structures, no art form is held above another, each discipline and practice coexists within the space of the residency: a space of experimentation; an opportunity to develop prototypes, and explore new forms of practice.
Poetry acts as a scaffolding to the flow of images, allowing for a closer analysis — a study — of the compositional elements that reveal themselves in the volume. Sequenced across 384 colour plates and presented alongside an essay summarising the core concepts of Collective Study, the publication is a primer to a new form of collective practice. The essay is enclosed within the covers of the book, published in both English and Japanese and illustrated with multiple views from the processes of the residency.
Collective Study is nothing less than a utopian project. In partaking in collective study, we create a proposition for a way that we would like to be and live.
